Depends: If there is an abscess, your surgeon may simply incise (cut into) and drain the area. Otherwise, your surgeon may try to excise or remove the sinus tract by taking out an ellipse of tissue. You may have an open wound if there is a lot of infection. Expect to be taking some pain medications afterwards, but to be feeling better overall.
