URINARY RETENTION: It depends on the type of surgery, drugs or other issues surrounding the same. Many men have bladder issues that they didn't know about pre-operatively. And they are worsened by the meds or surgery. Often, after a trial of voiding is failed, your doctor will recommend cathing yourself to try and cycle the bladder along with prostate and bladder neck relaxing medications.
