Knowable date: I agree this is a bit strange because according to this system you are 2 weeks pregnant on the day you conceive, but it is done because you can know the first day of your last period with certainty and the date of actual conception is often uncertain. The good news is that pregnancy actually only lasts an average of 38 weeks, not 40!
