Inflammed spinal cor: In medical lingo itis is used for inflammation so myelitis means inflammation of the spinal cord or an area of the spinal cord.

Inflammation: Myelitis means there is an infection or inflammation of the spinal cord. This has many causes and can vary from very mild to severe. Diagnostic tests for myelitis can include a spine mri, lumbar puncture to look at the spinal fluid and various blood tests. Treatment sometimes includes steroids or antibiotics of different types if there is an infection.
