Compression hose: Veins have nerves that sense pain and pressure. The veins on the dorsum (top ) of the foot are particularly vulnerable. There is not a lot of soft tissue in this area. If your veins are prominent or distended, they need to be compressed or accommodated. Compression hose vs. Wider shoes or both. The hose is best if knee high. They are available at over the counter strength (15-20 mm hg).
