A member asked:

A 39 year old female has a history of melanoma andmalignant ovarian dermoid, non-metastatic. she has nohistory of nosebleeds, but had two within last two weeks.each went on for less than 15 minutes. should it be a reason for concern?

See below: Because yo have not had nosebleeds in thepast you should see your physician. There are many, many causes of nosebleed so the best thing is to make certain theat the melanoma has not come back.

Unlikely: The nosebleeds would be unlikely to be related to the melanoma and the ovarian cancer, but melanoma can do just about anything. If you have any more episodes, i would visit your oncologist for a complete evaluation including blood work looking at your platelet levels and coagulation parameters.

Vaseline: While waiting for your exam & tests, put some vaseline on your finger, then lubricate inside your nose twice a day.
