Yes: It is difficult, but not impossible to be happy. It is not a necessity to "take pills to be happy." medications can help but so can psychotherapy. Other things that help include cultivating positive feelings, becoming meaningfully engaged in a career, and nurturing close relationships with others. I recommend a book by a non-therapist called, "happiness is a serious problem" by d. Prager (1998).
