Usually: Pain medication, anti nausea medication and fluids, usually IV sometimes oral. Rarely the stone is too large to pass, and then there are a number of procedures that can alleviate the obstruction and remove the stone. These very large stones are usually managed by a urologist.

It Depends: The treatment of kidneys stones ts based on a number of factors including overall stone burden - size and number of stones, as well as location of stones, type of stone, and the individual anatomy. Treatment options include shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy, and percutanesous nephrolithotomy. Your urologist will determine the best approach for you.
