Usually surgery: In malunion, bone may have healed at a bent angle , rotated out of position, or the fractured ends overlapped causing bone shortening. Malunion caused by inadequate immobilization, misalignment at the time of immobilization, or premature removal of the cast or other immobilizer.Sometimes malunion is treated by surgically breaking the malunion (osteotomy), sometimes use of hardware to maintain.

Mal union function: mal union can be corrected if the degree of deformity causes significant limitations in function and the ability to use the arm in a normal fashion.
