Need more info: Has he injured himself? Is there swelling or warmth around knee? Does he walk normally? Is he running fever? If none of these applies to him, trial of Ibuprofen for a short period should be ok. If his pain persists or he develops any of the extra symptom mentioned above, seek a medical attention.
