Yes: Most people recover from a shoulder dislocation fairly quickly. Athletes, especially contact sports, have a high risk of recurrent dislocations. That risk lasts for quite some time, so even a year or two with no symptoms or problems, you are still at higher risk for re-dislocation. Most contact athletes should consider arthroscopic repair after a dislocation.
