Healing after Cigs..: I would first tell him a hearty congratulations. And, second give my opinion that no this is not a permanent change. When one is smoking the natural anti-inflammatory part of healing does not work well in the tissues of the throat and trachea. It can take several months after stopping smoking to clean out all of the tar and toxic stuff in the lungs to get to normal. But, he is on his way!
