Stomach acid static: There are few bacterial infections in the stomach because the acid kills them. Notable exceptions are helicobacter pylori that can cause ulcers & tropheyma whippeli that can cause malabsorption/diarrhea & in some cases problems elsewhere in the body. Viruses (especially norwalk) can cause vomiting/diarrhea. Preformed toxins from bacteria in food can cause vomiting, fevers, neurological problems.
