Germs everywhere: If you remember that your dog may occasionally evaluate it's posterior, odds are that it's mouth is probably not the cleanest thing. Also, avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover it with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected.
