Idiopathic tremor: If it shakes when he tries to do something think about intention tremor. Also some meds can cause a tremor as well. If it is an intention tremor have him see a hand surgeon or a neurologist as I have found low dose Propranolol quite helpful. In fact, i treated my dad's tremor successfully with it. Hope this helps :).
