Experiencing jerks and twitches post-op spinal surgery. is this common?

Maybe: Muscle spasms and twitches are not uncommon (but also are not the norm). When a nerve is compressed, there is some abnormal function that results in pain and the need for surgery. Once pressure is relieved, then blood flows back in and can create all sorts of tingles/burns, twitches, etc. Some spasms of the back muscles are also common and can often be relieved by ice, bending or stretching.

not really: Although it varies somewhat based upon when you had surgery and what type of surgery you had, it is not really a typical postop complaint. I would certainly make sure your surgeon is aware. Thank you.
