Not ideal: But probably ok if you don't get it in your eye. If you don't feel you can avoid getting it in your eye, then don't use it. Check with your surgeon in the morning. He/she will probably have a specific recommendation for you.

Eye ointment is best: Mupirocin is an excellent ointment to use when you have certain bacteria or an allergic ointment to other ointments, but typically when treating the eyelid incisions, an eye ointment is best: Ilotycin (erythromcyin) if you do not have wool allergy, Bacitracin opthalmic ointment etc; check with the pharmacist to see if the Mupirocin you have is ok for the eye. Yes: Mupirocin is a prescription topical antibiotic that is effective against gram positive skin bacteria as well as mrsa. It is also known as bactroban (mupirocin).
