Fractures wrist 9+ years ago. very weak and often very painful to use. had x-ray, nothing came up? apparently "i'm fine"

"Nothing" depends : Upon what is being looked for. Issues after a fracture may be subtle including midcarpal malalignment, slight shortening of a bone and other factors. Also the cause of the weakness and pain may be unlrelated to the fracture, again it all depends upon what one looks for.

Hand surgeon: There are some conditions that do not show up on plain x-rays. The problem could possibly be unrelated to the old injury. You should probably take your x-rays to someone who specializes in hand surgery. You may need more specialized studies such as an mri.
