Not connect to colon: Loss of sense of smell can be from sinus issues, neuro trauma, rarely reaction to meds/anesthesia. Not related to colon, polyps, or colon resection. Check for other factors first.

Side effect: From anesthesia or from antibiotics they gave you. If it persists see an ENT or a neurologist. Maybe something neurological or worse related to brain like a tumor?
