Shrink it.: Hemorrhoids are basically veins around the anal canal which can become dilated from constipation, diarrhea, irritation from spicy foods or even change in diet. There are several simple ways to try to shrink these-stool softeners such as colace, (docusate sodium) fiber such as metamucil, sits baths(epsom salt in warm water), hemorrhoidal suppositories such as preparation h or over the counter hemorrhoidal supp.

Watch your diet: Drink a lot of fluids, avoid constipation and straining. Eat healthy and avoid fast foods. Take a stool softener if the stool is on the hard side. For burning and discomfort you can use prep h. Soaking your bottom in water also helps. If you have been dealing with constipation for a long time contact your primary doc as you may need further workup.
