No recovery per se: Piles, or hemorrhoids, are enlarged veins in the anal region often associated with excessive straining during defecation or from prolonged sitting. Occasionally they can signal more serious disease, such as liver disease. The size and symptoms of piles may wax and wane, when they are engorged, they often itch and become inflamed. Occasionally, they will clot, becoming very painful.
