A member asked:

May i know what are the surgeries carried out for inguinal hernia and does it assure that after the surgery we won't get hernia again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Here goes: Inguinal hernias are repaired laparoscopically or using open techniques. Open can be done with sedation and local anesthesia, while general anesthesia is needed for laparoscopic repair.Recovery is shorter with lap vs open repair, and usually less uncomfortable. Both have a recurrence rate, but this should be low, about 1%. Mesh is used in both in most cases, but there's no perfect repair.Good luck.
