Too long a time: Delirium is an acute mental status change, often provoked by infections, but also seen as a reaction to medications, metabolic imbalances, and sudden neurological events superimposed such as a new stroke. Chronic confusion is due to a dementia, of which alzheimer's disease most common. The Inderal (propranolol) will definitely make all of this worse. See a behavioural neurologist.

Possibly: Depends on many factors. Make sure to offer support-including diet, supervision, close attention to medications and potential side effects, enough but not too much mental stimulation and exercise. A consultation psychiatrist can be very helpful. It is also possible she has an underlying dementia.
