If you are sure that: It is in the bone, it could be either stress fracture or bone tumor. But non-bone pain is possible too.

It could be a sign: Of nerve inflammation/ neuropathy from diabetes and other autoimmune conditions, a sign of pinched nerve, side effect of meds etc. Go see your dr for an accurate diagnosis. God bless you!
