Get it checked out: It is most likely a small lymphnode or a cyst, but bacterial infection with klebsiella ganulomatis is possible, often starts as small, painless nodules appearing after 10–40 days following contact with the bacteria. Later the nodules burst, creating open, fleshy, oozing, and infection continues to destroy the tissue until treated. Not to scare u, but should consult doc if worsens. Good luck.

Possibilities: The groin has a lot of things in it both in the skin and below it. Sweat glands, hair follicles and skin cysts as well as lymph nodes, fatty tissue, vessels, tendons and other things. Is the lump growing, inflamed, painful, painless, draining, recurrent or constant, moveable or fixed...? Each of these (and many more) will provide your doc the answers as to what it is and what needs to be done.

R/O HERNIA: A groin lump or mass especially if it enlarges when standing may be a hernia. He needs to be examine and diagnosis confirmed. It can also be a fatty tumor, which is a lipoma . Lastly it can be an enlarged lymph node , which is more worrisome for Lymphoma. The doctor will check labs examine him and do a CT scan of Chest /Abd/Pelvis to confirm. Then surgery is always an option.
