Clean and dress: Keeping the area clean is key. Use a diluted solution of water and hydrogen peroxide for five days (50% each) once per day and follow with aquaphor ointment. Keeping the wound covered with an occlusive dressing such as this is ideal. If you have redness, swelling or pain that is more than expected, see a dermatologist. You may be allergic to the tattoo dye.
