No movement: When you sit with your legs in the dependent position for long periods the flow of blood back up to your heart is slower due to gravity, thus the pooling of blood, water, and all other fluids in your feet and legs. Get up and walk around every hour or so or flex your calf muscles. Muscle contractions help squeeze veins and push fluids back up from your legs to your body's core to get re-oxygenated.
