A member asked:

Can you tell me if a (painful, molar) cavity goes down into the gum, will they have to pull it?

Perhaps: If it goes too deep, then yes, you may lose the tooth. But your dentist will do everything possible to try and save the tooth first.

Cavity: If there is access and the decay can be removed then the tooth is restorable. If it is not possible to remove the decay then the tooth would need to be removed. See a dentist and have this tooth evaluated ASAP. The decay will get bigger and deeper the longer you wait so the sooner you get to a dentist the better.

Any cavity: if left untreated, the disease can lead to pain, tooth loss and infection. See your dentist for examination, x-rays and treatment. Take care.
