See below: In genital herpes the primary infection is the worst. It is frequently accompanied by fever, headache, muscle aches, genital vesicles and ulcers. It will usually resolve without treatment in about 10 days. It will resolve more quickly with antiviral treatment such as Valtrex (valacyclovir) pills. Recurrences are milder and if frequent can be prevented with chronic antiviral pill prevention. Go see your md.
