Dr. Ted King answered

Leg swelling: The first thing is swelling. It is often subtle and goes down at night so early edema can be overlooked. As the problem progresses, the swelling worsens and stops getting better at night. Leg swelling is usually generalized and tends to spare the leg below the ankle, whereas lymphedema is more segmental and affects the feet and toes more than the rest of the lower limb. Pain is uncommon.

Lymphedrma: The most common cause of lymphedema is having surgery of that extremity where the lymph nodes were disturbed. Please see a certified lymphedema therapist as well as a physician to help further evaluate the lymphedema.
