Urban legends / myth: Too many people think the medical community can choose to let someone progress to brain death in order to create the opportunity for organ donation. This is simply untrue. When devastating neurologic injuries occur and there are no possible hopes for recovery, after the family consents and/or there has been a consent on a donor registry, then the organ donation process can begin.
