Is it true that hip replacement surgery that painful?

It depends: If you are comparing it to a knee replacement or a shoulder replacement then the answer is "no it is probably not that painful." however, the length of recovery is quite dependent on other variables, including patient factors, surgical factors and postop therapy factors that may make the experience more or less painful.

It Hurts: most surgical procedures are associated with some pain because of the unavoidable injury to local structures required to perform the surgery. While the pain associated with arthritis is frequently noticeably eliminated surgical pain to varying degrees will be present of days to weeks following a hip replacement
