Hip abductors: Hip abductor strengthening exercises are ideal. One exercise is the crab walk. Tie a theraband in a closed loop, place it around your ankles, bend hips and knees slightly, and walk sideways 10 steps then back again and repeat. Try 3 sets of this a day. Another good exercise are clamshells. Lie with op side up, flex knees and hips, keep ankles together and open and close knees.

Physical therapy: A good physical therapist is as good as gold after this type of surgery. Ask you surgeon for a referral.
