What to do if i want my hips pierced but don't know all the facts. i think . how long do they last?

I am assuming this : Is about lip (not hip) piercings? If so, here is some info to think about. The barbells used can chip or fracture front teeth. Gums can be damaged by the rubbing of barbells requiring periodontal surgery. If the barbell becomes unscrewed it could be aspirated into the lungs. Infections can be quite severe & lead to disfigurement. Piercings are life-long as long as they don't close back up.
