Follows a rib: That's a pretty good description! it's following an intercostal muscle or rib. You may have costochonditis (rheumatism of the joint where the rib attaches to the breatbone). You may have intercostal neuritis. If a rash appears, it could even be shingles. Has there been any minor trauma or lifting?
