Anosmia: Losing the sense of smell has many causes in its differential. After you have seen your gp, you may need to see an ENT to rule out benign causes such as sinus involvement or nasal polyps. Rarely can tumors be a reason. Do not forget that as we age our senses wane as well where we sometimes lose the ability to smell and taste.

Variety of problems: Do not get worried, but some of the conditions to be aware of: initial signs of both parkinson's and alzheimer's, skull fracture injuring cribriform plate at base of brain, olfactory groove meningioma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Benign far more likely such as sinusitis, zinc deficiency, metabolic imbalance, medication reaction. Your doc can sort out and manage.
