A member asked:

Neither of my parents have dysplastic nevi syndrome how is it that i do?

Possible: The apple doesn't always fall close to the tree. You have to check all four grandparents and all aunts and uncles. Sometimes you just get lucky (or unlucky) and get a mixed new gene from the combo of both your parents. In any event, if you have the syndrome, please be diligent with yearly full body exams by your dermatologist.
