Sinus lift stats?: Having a tooth extracted does not result in the need for a sinus lift. If you want the tooth replaced with an implant retained crown and the sinus is hanging down low, you might require a sinus lift to increase the amount of bone necessary to place that implant fixture. I am not aware of any statistics regarding the answer to your question. Each individual is different.

Personally, I don't : Think that a regular tooth extraction would affect the sinuses at all. If in doubt, get a second or third opinion. Save that $$$.

if implants planned: The only time a sinus lift should be performed is if dental implants are in the plan for that area. On rare occasions, an opening into the sinus may occur during an extraction. If that occurs an oral surgeon should be seen to close up the opening. This may require the placement of a resorbable membrane and a bone graph into the extraction socket only.
