A member asked:

What kind of blood test would my hematology dr. order to see what's wrong with my blood instead of a bone marrow test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hierarchy of tests: Usual approach is to do a complete blood cells count and performa microscopic examination of the blood smear, the latter may be done by a pathologist. Depending on the findings, symptoms, and signs, other tests may be selected, e.G, flow cytometry, antibody testing, dna testing, and a bone marrow. Each test has its own place and there is no test instead of bone marrow.
