Already in the drop: Fluorescein stain, to detect corneal defects and disease, is contained in a drop which includes a topical anesthetic. The anesthetic in fact can be in part diagnostic for corneal disease from painful defects because the use of the drop will eliminate the pain for the duration of the effect of the drop.
