Yes,proven effective: No drug or herb works for everyone and more research is needed, but ginger is proven to be very effective in reducing inflammation. Several studies show in helps osteoarthritis. One study with RA over 3/4 of patients had relief. Try ginger capsules too to increase the amount you ingest.
