A member asked:

I found out today that i have a 4mm kidney stone. the pain meds they gave me are not working. it's stuck. if i go back to er will they do something?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Family practice : First of all they will medicate you to relieve the pain. They may admit you medicate as needed and have a urologist see you. He will determine if there is a blockage, if you don't pass it s/he will place a stent up the ureter to help drain the kidney. Then either lithotrypsy or manual extraction of the stone will be performed.
