Consider pacemaker: If someone's heart rate is too low, evalution for thyroid function or other metabolic cause or medication cause must be done. If there is no other reason for the very low heart rate, especially less than 30, pacemaker implantation would be recommended. A complicating factor may be that if someone has an infection, placing a pacemaker can be a problem due to concern about infection.
