Depends: There are many factors to consider i.E mechanism of injury, severity of strain, which muscle is involved etc. That being said, generally, muscle pain/spasm/strains should resolve with relative rest, ice, occasional use of anti inflammatory medication, stretching. If it doesn't improve, then you should discuss with your doctor.
