Use RICE not salt.: The best treatment for a sprain is, "rice, " therapy. This stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. Try to stay off your ankle as much as you can while you still have pain. Apply an ice pack 4-5 times a day for 15-20 minutes max. Wrap your ankle with an ace bandage to provide support. Your foot should be flexed up (at a 90 degree angle) when you do this. Elevation will help with swelling.

Better off: Using ice foa a acute sprain then epsom salt in this case. Rest, ice, compression and elevation are the best treatment but to play it safe see your doctor for x-ray to rule ot fracture.
