Yes, but why?: There is no substantive evidence that orally administered 5htp is effective for depression. But there are verified reports of severe reactions to it. It makes no sense to think that ingested tryptophan will increase brain serotonin any more if taken in pills than in food. This is an example of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing." i wouldn't waste money on this treatment.
