Sometimes low ANA : A small number of patients with discoid lupus will progress onto systemic lupus, but it is not likely. Your need followup, a physical examination and bloodwork and approprite workup to decide if there is systemic lupus.

Discoid lupus & SLE: 10% of people with discoid lupus (dle) have systemic disease. Antibodies associated with dle can be seen in sle as well, or people with dle may not have positive antibodies in the blood. Most common one is ana. However, diagnosis of sle requires 4 of 11 criteria to be met, of which antibodies are only one. Here is more information: http://www.Lupus.Org. Please see your rheumatologist for workup.
