If: Asthma is due to allergies you can start by avoiding the specific allergens, take an allergy medication such as an anti histamine or a prostaglandin inhibitor, injectable anti ige medication, regular asthma medications and sometimes steroids.

Minor contribution: Asthma is a structural problem with a normal protective mechanism in your small airways. They are designed to close off if triggered by noxious agents to protect the sensitive lung tissue & reopen when the agent is gone. In asthma, you close off easily but re-open less so. Allergies are thought to be about 5-10% of the triggers & avoiding them can help, but the disease is more complex.
