What to do if i have a baby tooth that has decay/caries. will the permanent tooth have it too?

No: The permanent tooth will not come in with decay. It is an entirely new tooth. But it is important that you treat decay in the baby teeth. So see a dentist if you suspect that your child has a cavity.

Probably unless: Cavities occur from eating food that is sugary and sticky and not keeping them clean by brushing and flossing properly and\or often enough. Unless habits are changed, if you have had cavities on your baby teeth, you will most likely get cavities on your adult teeth. Cavities are not contagious. Change your habits and you will have beautiful healthy teeth the rest of your life!

Not likely: However, untreated tooth decay in the primary teeth will increase the probability of problems in the permanent dentition. See a pedodontist for consultation.

Probably not: Primary teeth do not pass their lesions onto the secondary teeth.
