Hardware: Titanium and stainless steel are the two most common metal implants used in orthopedic surgery today (never used together). They can be expected to last the entire life of the patient--even longer, actually, you should have no concerns regarding the permanence of these implants. Hope this helps!

Yes. : Most implanted metallic stabilizers stay where they are placed for the rest of the patient's life. Very rarely do they ever need to be removed, and almost never cause pain due to irritation or break down.
